Thailand confirms safety and operational normalcy for MICE events following Myanmar’s earthquake, with infrastructure intact, inspections completed, and all venues and transport systems fully functional.
In the aftermath of the March 28 earthquake in Myanmar, the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has reassured the global tourism and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) community that Thailand remains fully operational and safe for international business events.
TCEB expressed gratitude for the outpouring of concern, support, and inquiries from industry stakeholders worldwide. The Bureau has been actively engaged with both public and private sector partners to monitor developments and communicate timely updates regarding safety protocols and infrastructure readiness.
On March 31, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) officially dissolved the Earthquake Incident Command Center, citing the return to normalcy and control of the situation. While tremors were felt in parts of Bangkok—particularly in high-rise buildings—there have been no reports of major structural damage impacting the city’s tourism or MICE infrastructure.
In response to heightened safety concerns, Thai authorities, in coordination with private sector partners, launched immediate third-party inspections of affected buildings. According to BMA, engineering assessments of residential and commercial structures have confirmed that most fall within the “green” category, posing no risk to occupants or operations.
TCEB reaffirmed that Bangkok’s event venues, hotels, and related infrastructure remain fully functional. Business events in the city have continued without disruption since March 29. Notably, Thailand MICE X-Change (TMX) 2025, organized by the Thai Exhibition Association with TCEB’s support, is proceeding as planned on April 2–3 at Paragon Hall in the heart of Bangkok.
Public transport systems, including the BTS Skytrain and MRT subway, are running on full schedules, ensuring seamless connectivity to major convention and exhibition venues. Airports, intercity train services, hotels, shopping malls, and other tourism-related facilities have also resumed normal operations.
TCEB emphasized that the country is committed to upholding the highest safety standards and continues to position itself as a reliable and resilient destination for business events in the region.
