United Airlines is to launch seasonal service between Washington DC and Berlin next year.
The route – which had originally been due to start in 2022 – will operate daily from May 23, 2023, using a B767-400ER aircraft.
Schedules are as follows:
- UA234, departing Washington DC at 1745, arriving in Berlin at 0820 the following day
- UA235, departing Berlin at 1110, arriving in Washington DC at 1430
The service will complement United’s existing New York Newark-Berlin route.
Berlin airport is gradually seeing growth in transatlantic services, having opened in late 2020 after nearly a decade of delays.
United’s Washington DC-Berlin route will be the only direct, nonstop service between the US and German capitals, but Delta is set to resume flights between New York JFK and Berlin next year, while Norse Atlantic Airways will start flights from Berlin to both LA and New York next month.
