Vietnam Airlines has officially taken its India operations to new heights, launching wide-body aircraft services on the Mumbai–Hanoi route. Marking a significant milestone in its expansion strategy, the airline will now operate four weekly flights using its flagship Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A350 jets—offering passengers a premium flying experience characterized by modern design, enhanced comfort, and elevated in-flight services.

The inaugural wide-body flight took off from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) with a celebratory send-off that included a traditional cake-cutting ceremony. The event saw attendance from senior airport officials, airline representatives, and dignitaries from both Vietnam Airlines and its India GSA, Aeroprime Group.

“This marks an exciting new chapter for Vietnam Airlines in the Indian market,” said Nguyen Trung Hieu, Country Manager India at Vietnam Airlines. “We are thrilled to begin this exciting new chapter in our India operations. Upgrading to wide-body aircraft on the Mumbai-Hanoi route underscores our dedication to delivering unparalleled comfort and convenience to Indian travelers. We look forward to welcoming more passengers onboard and strengthening the vital air bridge between India and Vietnam.”

The aircraft upgrade brings a host of elevated offerings, including fully flat beds in business class, advanced in-flight entertainment systems, curated Indian meal options, and the signature warmth of Vietnamese hospitality. These enhancements not only meet growing passenger demand but also position the airline as a competitive leader on the India–Vietnam corridor.

Commenting on the development, Abhishek Goyal, CEO & Executive Director of Aeroprime Group, noted, “Vietnam has rapidly emerged as a preferred destination for Indian travelers, and with this upgrade, Vietnam Airlines is perfectly positioned to meet the growing demand, enhancing connectivity between India and Vietnam and setting a new benchmark for travel experience in this sector.”

Vietnam Airlines now operates 14 weekly flights connecting Delhi and Mumbai to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The addition of wide-body aircraft on the Mumbai–Hanoi leg underscores the airline’s strategic push in the Indian market. Further expanding its reach, Vietnam Airlines has also announced the commencement of direct services from Bengaluru and Hyderabad, starting this May.

With this latest move, Vietnam Airlines reaffirms its ambition to be the preferred carrier for travelers between India and Southeast Asia, offering a compelling blend of connectivity, comfort, and class.
