Anisha Prakash, Head of Marketing and Strategic Alliances, BlinkBrand, said, “BlinkBrand is delighted to partner with the Department of Tourism, Bhutan, to support the continued growth of the country’s tourism sector. Our focus will be on bringing the Kingdom’s evolving story and approach that is in sync with its wider national vision of growth to the right audiences across India and the MENA region, building deeper engagement with the right trade, media and high-value traveller segments, build visitation while respecting the destination’s high-value, low-volume and regenerative tourism philosophy.”

Damcho Rinzin, Director, Department of Tourism, Bhutan, said, “This mandate represents more than a conventional destination marketing appointment. It is about moving beyond the conventional Bhutan itineraries and showcasing the breadth of experiences available across our Himalayan kingdom. Through this mandate, Blink will work towards strengthening Bhutan’s engagement with the travel trade, media, consumers and relevant travel communities, while highlighting Bhutan as a destination for wellness and spirituality, culture, nature and adventure, family travel, luxury, MICE and Destination Weddings, and also deeply immersive experiential journeys and slow travel.”
Bhutan is stepping up its tourism promotion efforts in two key outbound markets, appointing BlinkBrand Solutions as its official Public Relations and Sales Representative for India and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
The appointment comes as the Himalayan kingdom enters a new phase of tourism market development, with a renewed emphasis on strengthening established source markets while expanding its reach among high-value travellers in emerging markets.
India remains Bhutan’s largest and most strategically important tourism market, supported by longstanding cultural, spiritual and people-to-people ties, as well as direct air links and multiple land-border crossings. The new mandate will simultaneously seek to increase Bhutan’s visibility across the fast-growing MENA market.
Promoting Bhutan Beyond Traditional Itineraries
The partnership is designed to align Bhutan’s High-Value, Low-Volume tourism philosophy with BlinkBrand’s destination marketing and travel trade expertise.
Rather than focusing solely on visitor numbers, the strategy aims to attract travellers who are willing to stay longer, explore beyond established tourism routes and engage more deeply with Bhutan’s culture, communities and natural environment.
Under the mandate, BlinkBrand will promote a broader range of Bhutanese experiences, including wellness and spirituality, culture, nature and adventure, family holidays, luxury travel, MICE, destination weddings, immersive experiences and slow travel.
Damcho Rinzin, Director of the Department of Tourism, Bhutan, said the appointment represented more than a conventional destination-marketing arrangement, with the focus being on showcasing the breadth of experiences available across the kingdom and strengthening engagement with travel trade, media, consumers and relevant travel communities.
India Remains the Core Source Market
India will remain at the centre of Bhutan’s international tourism strategy.
Rinzin said India consistently accounts for the largest share of annual arrivals to Bhutan and benefits from the close historical, cultural and spiritual relationship between the two countries.
Accessibility is another major advantage. Bhutan can be reached from India through several direct flight connections as well as land-border crossings, making the kingdom one of the more accessible international destinations for Indian travellers.
Indian nationals do not require a visa to visit Bhutan, although an entry permit is required.
MENA Offers New Growth Potential
Alongside strengthening its position in India, Bhutan is looking towards the MENA region as a source of high-value tourism demand.
The partnership is expected to increase destination awareness among travellers seeking distinctive luxury, wellness, nature, spiritual and experiential holidays, while introducing Bhutan to travel trade and media audiences across the region.
The strategy reflects Bhutan’s broader ambition to diversify its international source markets without compromising the principles underpinning its tourism model.
Tourism Development Guided by Sustainability
The appointment is aligned with the Bhutan Integrated Tourism Master Plan 2025–2034, which provides a long-term framework for developing tourism as a sustainable contributor to national development.
The plan places emphasis on tourism diversification, regional balance, sustainability and regenerative tourism, with the wider objective of ensuring that tourism creates lasting value for local communities, the economy and Bhutan’s cultural and environmental heritage.
At the centre of this approach is the country’s philosophy of Gross National Happiness (GNH) and its commitment to preserving the integrity of its High-Value, Low-Volume tourism model.
For Bhutan, the objective is therefore not simply to increase visitor arrivals, but to encourage longer stays, meaningful experiences, greater geographic and seasonal distribution of tourism and stronger benefits for host communities.
BlinkBrand to Lead Trade, PR and Consumer Engagement
Anisha Prakash, Head of Marketing and Strategic Alliances at BlinkBrand Solutions, said the company would focus on bringing Bhutan’s evolving tourism story to the right audiences in India and MENA while respecting the kingdom’s high-value, low-volume and regenerative tourism philosophy.
BlinkBrand’s mandate covers a broad range of activities, including destination marketing, public relations, media relations, travel trade engagement, consumer campaigns, storytelling, influencer marketing and experiential activations.
The company’s own portfolio describes its services as spanning sales and trade marketing, destination consumer campaigns, PR and media relations, social media, influencer programmes, storytelling and events.
The agency also says it works with tourism boards and other travel-sector organisations across multiple international markets, with its India-focused strategy designed to connect destinations with travel trade and consumer audiences.
A Broader Story for the Kingdom
The new representation comes at a time when Bhutan is seeking to broaden the way it is presented to international travellers.
While its Himalayan landscapes, monasteries and cultural heritage remain central to the destination’s appeal, the tourism strategy increasingly places emphasis on wellness, adventure, luxury, family travel, MICE, weddings and slower, more immersive journeys.
For the Indian market in particular, Bhutan’s combination of proximity, cultural familiarity, ease of access and distinctive Himalayan experiences provides a strong foundation for further growth.
The appointment of BlinkBrand Solutions is expected to give that proposition greater visibility among travel professionals, media and high-value consumers while helping Bhutan expand its international tourism footprint without moving away from the principles of sustainability, conservation and Gross National Happiness that underpin its tourism model.
