Edge NYC is set to introduce a major new immersive attraction at Hudson Yards on June 11, transforming the iconic observation destination with a series of multi-sensory installations anchored by what is being described as New York City’s largest kaleidoscope.

Located on the 100th floor of the landmark skyscraper at Hudson Yards, the attraction will expand the visitor experience at the highest indoor and outdoor sky deck in the Western Hemisphere by introducing seven interactive environments designed to reinterpret the lights, movement, sound and energy of New York City.

The new indoor experience combines immersive art, technology, kinetic sculpture and interactive design, offering visitors a journey that begins before they step onto the famous outdoor observation deck overlooking Manhattan.

Multi-Sensory Installations Redefine the Observation Deck Experience

According to Edge NYC, the redesigned indoor environment has been developed as an all-weather immersive attraction where light, reflection, movement and sound evolve dynamically throughout the day.

The centrepiece of the experience is expected to be the city’s largest kaleidoscope installation, featuring giant mirrored environments where shifting colours, reflections and custom-designed music create constantly changing visual perspectives inspired by the New York skyline.

Among the standout installations is Reflections, a kinetic mirrored sculpture comprising 200 spinning mirrored surfaces that rotate toward visitors as they move through the space, creating a constantly evolving interaction between guests and the installation.

Another attraction, Pulse, features more than 350 illuminated colour-changing globes that react to visitor movement through pulses of light, ensuring that each guest experiences a different visual sequence.

The immersive environments are designed to transform the traditional observation deck model into an experiential attraction blending entertainment, digital art and panoramic tourism.

Skyline-Inspired Interactive Spaces

The indoor experience also introduces Prism, an installation that refracts and transforms images of New York City through shifting colours, angles and patterns, allowing visitors to experience the cityscape through changing visual perspectives.

At Skyrise, guests enter a cinematic elevator-inspired environment that recreates the sensation of ascending 100 floors above Manhattan in under a minute through immersive visuals and audio effects reflecting the pace and energy of the city.

Another installation invites visitors beneath an eight-metre canopy of giant crystals that scatter light and project rainbow reflections across the floor, creating a dynamic atmosphere that changes with movement and natural lighting conditions.

Edge NYC stated that the attraction also includes Infinite City, an interactive environment made up of 18 illuminated columns inspired by New York skyscrapers. The mirrored and translucent structures respond to guest movement through shifting waves of colour and sound, reinforcing the sense of immersion within the urban skyline.

Industry experts note that experiential attractions combining immersive technology with iconic city landmarks are becoming increasingly important in attracting modern travellers seeking interactive and social-media-driven tourism experiences.

Expanding New York’s Experiential Tourism Appeal

Standing 345 metres above Manhattan, Edge NYC has become one of New York’s most visited observation attractions since opening at Hudson Yards, known for its suspended outdoor sky deck and panoramic 360-degree skyline views.

The latest expansion reflects a broader trend within global tourism destinations where observation decks and landmark attractions are evolving into immersive entertainment venues that combine art, architecture, digital storytelling and sensory experiences.

Tourism analysts believe the addition of year-round indoor attractions may further strengthen Edge NYC’s appeal among international visitors, families and experiential travellers seeking weather-independent entertainment experiences.

The new installations were developed through collaborations between Hudson Yards Experiences and internationally recognised experiential design studios including Moment Factory, Journey and SOFTlab.

New Culinary and Hospitality Experiences Added

Alongside the immersive transformation, Edge NYC is also expanding its hospitality offerings with the launch of a new Skyline Bar & Café developed in partnership with Tao Group Hospitality.

The venue will feature a menu inspired by iconic New York flavours, including smoked bagel bites, babka pastry sticks, Wagyu hot dogs and mini cannolis, catering to both domestic and international visitors seeking locally inspired culinary experiences.

The property will also see the return of Avenue as Avenue Sky Lounge alongside a new dining concept at Peak with Priceless, reinforcing Hudson Yards’ positioning as a premium lifestyle and tourism destination.

Immersive Attractions Continue to Shape Urban Tourism

The expansion at Edge NYC reflects the growing role of immersive attractions in driving urban tourism and destination competitiveness.

Cities worldwide are increasingly investing in interactive entertainment concepts that combine architecture, digital technology and experiential storytelling to attract younger travellers and extend visitor engagement.

For New York City, the new installations further strengthen the city’s position as a global hub for experiential tourism, observation attractions and large-scale immersive entertainment.

Industry observers believe attractions that blend panoramic views with technology-driven artistic experiences are likely to become an increasingly important component of future urban tourism development strategies.
