Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has announced the signing of a new Tree of Life resort in Kamshet, Maharashtra, further strengthening the company’s footprint in India’s growing experiential leisure travel segment. The upcoming resort will undergo extensive renovation and expansion, with room inventory set to double as part of the transformation into a signature Tree of Life destination.

Located amid the scenic landscapes of the Western Ghats, the new resort reflects the rising demand for immersive, nature-driven travel experiences among domestic leisure travellers seeking short-haul getaways from major urban centres such as Mumbai and Pune.

According to Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President – Real Estate & Development at IHCL, the Kamshet–Lonavala–Pawna corridor has emerged as one of western India’s most sought-after drive-to leisure destinations. The region continues to witness sustained demand across multiple segments including weekend vacations, destination weddings, wellness retreats, and corporate offsites.

She noted that the signing aligns with Tree of Life’s brand philosophy of offering intimate, experience-led stays deeply connected to local culture and nature. IHCL has partnered with Kalyan Borade for the development of the project.

The upcoming Kamshet resort will feature 30 keys and offer panoramic views of the Sahyadri mountain ranges. Designed to deliver a tranquil and immersive hospitality experience, the property will include an all-day dining restaurant and bar, alongside a curated range of recreational and wellness amenities.

Guests will have access to a swimming pool, outdoor nature spa, and landscaped open spaces designed to encourage relaxation and engagement with the surrounding natural environment. The resort will also cater to the growing demand for experiential celebrations and corporate gatherings through dedicated event venues, including a glasshouse with adjoining lawns and an amphitheatre.

In keeping with the Tree of Life brand ethos, the property will introduce a series of curated local experiences designed to connect travellers with the destination’s culture and landscape. These include organic farming activities, artisanal wine and jam-making sessions, and bespoke lakeside dining experiences.

Speaking on the collaboration, Kalyan Borade stated that the partnership with IHCL represents a shared vision to position Kamshet as a distinctive experiential leisure destination. He added that the association brings together local destination expertise with IHCL’s extensive hospitality experience and brand strength.

Nestled in the lush greenery of the Western Ghats, Kamshet has steadily gained popularity as one of India’s premier paragliding destinations, attracting adventure enthusiasts and leisure travellers alike. The region is also known for attractions such as Pawna Lake, Bedse Caves, and Kondeshwar Temple, making it an appealing destination for both wellness and adventure tourism.

The signing underscores IHCL’s continued focus on expanding its presence in high-potential leisure markets through differentiated hospitality offerings that cater to evolving traveller preferences for slower, more meaningful journeys rooted in local experiences and sustainability.

As India’s leisure travel sector continues to diversify, brands such as Tree of Life are increasingly tapping into emerging micro-destinations that combine accessibility with experiential richness, reflecting a broader shift toward boutique and immersive hospitality concepts.
