Amidst speculation of tourism reopening in the valley, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has announced that all  parks and gardens in the union territory will be thrown open to the public from July 8. The Tulip season might have not got its due this year, but then the gorgeous parks and gardens of the valley always have more to reveal in all seasons, don’t they?

For the nascent union territory of J&K it is a step towards reviving tourism especially for Kashmir where tourist flow had come to a halt after August 5 last year when New Delhi abrogated statehood of Kashmir and revoked its special status. This move is expected to provide that much awaited respite to locals and travellers alike. It also attempts to initiate a balance between lives and livelihoods in the valley.

Due to the current pandemic, precautionary measures will be in place: face masks, hand sanitisers, and social distancing both inside and outside all parks and gardens. Visitors will also be thermal screened before entry. Expect heavy penalties if you do not adhere to rules.
