The Network of Indian MICE Agents (NIMA) has officially designated 2025 as the “Year of MICE Tourism,” with plans to promote Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism across India. This announcement was made during a press event held at The Bristol in Gurugram, where industry leaders outlined their strategy for the year.
Vikas Khanduri, Advisor to NIMA, emphasized the importance of 2025 for MICE tourism. He detailed plans for a series of events and activities to be held nationwide, from Raipur and Ranchi to Madurai and Mohali, and from Agra to Amritsar. These initiatives aim to highlight India’s potential as a leading MICE destination and to stimulate industry growth and collaboration.
Gajesh Giridhar, Founder and National Coordinator of NIMA, introduced “World MICE Tourism Day,” scheduled for June 21st annually. He noted that this date, coinciding with the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, is a fitting time to celebrate the global MICE industry, which peaks during this period.
Additional insights were provided by other NIMA members. Dr. Nitin Mittal discussed educational and training initiatives to enhance skills within the MICE sector, while Gurmeet Chhatwal emphasized the role of NIMA’s agents in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities in expanding MICE tourism’s reach. Jyoti Monga will lead efforts to establish international chapters of NIMA, aiming to enhance global partnerships. Rajiv Chawla highlighted the need for a strong national network to support MICE activities across India, and Sanjay Sharma addressed the importance of maintaining industry standards through Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for MICE operators.
As NIMA celebrates its 10th anniversary, a special team has been formed to mark this milestone, including all the key members mentioned, along with Rakesh Arora and Dr. Anup Tarafdar. This team will oversee the anniversary celebrations and reflect on NIMA’s contributions to the MICE sector over the past decade.
