Yang Zhongwu, Director, Shaanxi Provincial Tourism Administration, has said that the
3rd edition of China Xi’an Silk Road International Tourism Expo 2016 (CXSRITE) in Xi’an,
has been postponed from April to the last week of August this year. The final dates are yet to be out.
Jointly organised by Shaanxi Provincial Tourism Administration, and co-organised by Conference and Exhibition Management Services (CEMS), Singapore and CEMS, Beijing and Xi’an Tourism Administration, the expo will showcase 25-30 Chinese provinces and 33 participating countries and regions.
The north-western Chinese province and the starting point for the Silk Road, Shaanxi, recorded 25,000 Indian travellers in 2015. For the current year, they are again hopeful of a good increase in arrivals from India, he confirmed. Talking about the challenge of direct air connectivity, he highlighted that the Provincial Government of Shaanxi and the Governor are looking forward to announce a direct flight from India to the state of Shaanxi. “I am sure it will be launched in the coming time,” the Director added.
He elaborated that India and China are two of the most populous countries and with aggressive tourism promotion both the nations can flourish in the sector way more than any other country in the world. 6 out of 8 routes of Buddhist circuits are in Xi’an, the ancient capital of Shaanxi.
We plan to conduct familiarisation tours to boost travel from India into the region and conduct more marketing and promotional initiatives in India. To build long-term relationship and establish mutual cooperation, there is a need for enhanced communication, he said.
Rajeev Kohli, President, Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE) urged the trade to promote the less explored but potential destination such as Xi’an and design itineraries for 2-3 night to the place. Shaanxi boasts of 378 star hotels and 400+ scenic spots. High speed rail from Shaanxi connects to all major cities of China in about 5hrs.
