Egypt has suspended visa fees for tourist destinations until October as it is gearing up to welcome flights. This move comes in a bid to encourage visitors to return to the country, although cases of Coronavirus continue to surge across the country.
To ensure holidaymakers make a return, visas for South Sinai (where the popular Sharm El-Sheikh is located), Marsa Matrouh, and the Red Sea, home to Hurghada, will no longer cost anything.
The government has also issued hygiene safety certificates to more than 260 resorts and hotels. In fact, steps are being taken to ensure tourists enjoy a safe visit here, and all precautionary measures are being put into place. As per the orders, resorts are not allowed to host parties or weddings, organise entertainment activities, offer open buffets, or serve shisha water pipes.
Guests will be required to register online, whereas workers are required to undergo quick Coronavirus tests when entering resorts. Also, for the safety of the visitors, a small building or hotel floor will be assigned as a quarantine area in case anybody is suspected of being affected with the Coronavirus.
Further, hotels will be allowed to operate only at 50 per cent capacity, and must have a doctor on-site and a clinic.
Further, Egyptian Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Manar announced that international flight operations would likely resume as soon as July 1, thereby bringing hope this measure would bring holiday-makers and international travelers to the country as restrictions are being lifted gradually.
