European river cruise operator VIVA Cruises has formally entered the Australian market, appointing Australian cruise specialist Cruise Traveller as its exclusive representative.
The partnership gives Australian travellers access to VIVA Cruises’ portfolio of premium river journeys across Europe, with itineraries covering major waterways including the Danube, Rhine, Rhône, Seine, Main and Moselle.
To mark the Australian launch, Cruise Traveller is offering complimentary cabin upgrades on selected VIVA Cruises sailings departing in July and August 2027. The promotion applies to new bookings made between 11 September and 11 October 2026, subject to availability and the offer’s conditions.
Under the promotion, guests booking an Emerald Deck Double cabin can receive an upgrade to a Ruby Deck Double, while those booking a Ruby Deck Double can be upgraded to a Diamond Deck Double. The offer covers selected departures aboard VIVA MOMENTS, VIVA TWO and VIVA TIARA.
European river cruising with an all-inclusive approach
Based in Düsseldorf, VIVA Cruises was established in 2018 and is part of Swiss shipping company Scylla AG. The operator has expanded its European river cruise programme since its launch, with its fleet and itineraries covering a range of destinations across the continent.
VIVA Cruises’ all-inclusive offering incorporates full-board dining, a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, Wi-Fi, daily-refilled minibars and crew gratuities. Its itineraries also feature included shore excursions, depending on the sailing and market offering.
Joe O’Sullivan, Managing Director of Cruise Traveller, said the partnership brings a combination of relaxed service, premium accommodation and competitive Australian-dollar pricing to the local market.
“We’re excited to introduce this innovative brand to the Australian market,” O’Sullivan said, highlighting the range of European river experiences available through VIVA Cruises.
Danube itinerary among launch highlights
One of the sailings featured in the launch programme is a seven-night Danube cruise aboard VIVA TIARA, departing Passau on 11 August 2027 and returning to Passau on 18 August.
The itinerary calls at destinations including Krems, Vienna, Budapest, Komárom, Bratislava and Melk, offering a combination of historic cities, cultural attractions and landscapes along the Danube. VIVA Cruises lists the 11 August departure among its 2027 VIVA TIARA sailings.
Cruise Traveller’s Australian promotion provides the opportunity for travellers booking eligible departures to move into a higher cabin category without an additional cabin-upgrade charge. Australian pricing varies according to sailing and cabin category, with the operator’s booking pages listing fares in Australian dollars.
The Australian launch represents another step in VIVA Cruises’ international expansion, adding a dedicated local representative and distribution channel for travellers seeking European river cruise holidays.
