Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, the world’s largest hotel franchising company with approximately 9,000 properties across 90 countries, has continued to cement its presence across Europe, Middle East, Eurasia and Africa (EMEA) with new openings and a series of strategic measures to support its hotel partners to respond to changes in demand and transition into 2021.

In 2020 the company continued to expand its Ramada by Wyndham brand in Europe with key openings in Madrid, Valencia, Leeds and Budapest, as well as gaining further momentum in India and Pakistan. Other milestones included the opening of the first Ramada Encore by Wyndham in Oman, as well as further expansion of the upper midscale La Quinta by Wyndham brand in Turkey. The design-focused Super 8 by Wyndham brand continued its growth trajectory in Germany, with openings in Mainz and Augsburg, as well as the recent signing of Super 8 by Wyndham Frankfurt airport, expected to open in 2022.

As part of its on-going efforts to spearhead operational excellence and bring resources closer to its regional markets, the company bolstered its operational leadership team with new senior hires, while also introducing new commercial programmes to mitigate changes and travel restrictions. Key initiatives included the launch of a new hybrid meeting concept combining live-streaming and in-person participation at corporate events, as well as Wyndham Easy Book, a powerful business-to-business solution to support the everyday business traveller with reduced corporate rates for small to mid-size businesses in EMEA.

As part of its on-going digital investment strategy, the company also introduced a new Wyndham mobile app combining best-in-class design with personal experiences, gamification and more features reimagining the user experience and adapting to users’ real-time needs.

Dimitris Manikis, President, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, EMEA said: “Despite all of the challenges our industry is facing in the wake of COVID-19, I am incredibly proud of our continued growth and the huge efforts taken by our hotel partners and teams who have shown incredible resilience to keep up with changing demand in unforeseen circumstances. Our focus is on the long-term success of our brands and our partners, and I am confident that we are collectively well positioned to continue to outperform through the recovery and into the future.”

Earlier in 2020, Wyndham rolled out Count on Us, a new hygiene initiative further reinforcing health and safety protocols at hotels through the consistent use of industry leading disinfectants, robust training and access to critical health essentials.
