Wyndham Hotels and Resorts is to open a property under its budget Super 8 brand at Frankfurt airport.

The news was confirmed in a round-up of 2020 openings for the group, which has included European additions in Augsburg, Madrid, Valencia, Leeds and Budapest.

Few details were released about the Super 8 by Wyndham Frankfurt airport hotel, which is scheduled to open in 2022, but hospitality-on.com reports that the property will feature 288 rooms and will be located on Admiral-Rosendahl-Strasse close to the airport’s Terminal 3, which itself is currently under construction.

The vast majority of Wyndham’s 2,200 Super 8 properties are in North America and Asia, although there are a handful of hotels in German cities including Dresden, Hamburg and Munich.

Commenting on the group’s growth in Europe, Dimitris Manikis, president, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, EMEA said: “Despite all of the challenges our industry is facing in the wake of Covid-19, I am incredibly proud of our continued growth and the huge efforts taken by our hotel partners and teams who have shown incredible resilience to keep up with changing demand in unforeseen circumstances. “Our focus is on the long-term success of our brands and our partners, and I am confident that we are collectively well positioned to continue to outperform through the recovery and into the future.”

In the UK, Wyndham opened Ramada by Wyndham Leeds East in September, featuring 100 rooms, a restaurant and bar, fitness centre and free wifi. wyndhamhotels.com
