Marriott International has significantly strengthened its presence in Egypt after signing a strategic development agreement with Misr Italia Properties and People & Places to launch nine new hospitality and branded residential projects across the country.
The agreement will add more than 1,500 hotel rooms and branded residences across some of Egypt’s fastest-growing urban and coastal destinations, reinforcing Marriott’s long-term commitment to one of the Middle East and North Africa region’s most important tourism markets. The development was announced by Marriott International in an official statement.
Luxury Brands to Anchor Major Developments
The projects will span luxury resorts, premium city hotels and branded residences under Marriott’s globally recognised brands, including The Ritz-Carlton, The Luxury Collection and Autograph Collection.
The developments will be located across Ras El Hekma on Egypt’s North Coast, West Cairo, East Cairo, Ain Sokhna on the Red Sea, and the country’s New Administrative Capital, supporting both leisure tourism and urban hospitality growth.
Shady Hassan, Vice President of Development – North Africa at Marriott International, described Egypt as a strategic growth market driven by strong tourism fundamentals, expanding infrastructure and increasing demand for premium hospitality and branded residential experiences.
He said the agreement reflects Marriott’s long-term confidence in Egypt’s tourism sector and its commitment to introducing internationally recognised hotel brands across key destinations.
EGP 56.7 Billion Investment
Misr Italia Properties and People & Places plan to invest more than EGP 56.7 billion in the new hospitality portfolio.
According to the developers, the projects are expected to generate approximately 6,000 direct and indirect jobs while attracting around 373,000 tourists annually once operational, contributing to Egypt’s broader tourism growth strategy.
Mohamed Khaled El Assal, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Misr Italia Properties and Co-founder of People & Places, said hospitality has become a core pillar of the company’s long-term development strategy.
He noted that the investment is intended to create employment opportunities while establishing a diversified portfolio of tourism and lifestyle destinations across Egypt.
Portfolio Expands Beyond 1,800 Keys
Including previously announced projects, Marriott’s combined pipeline with Misr Italia Properties and People & Places now exceeds 1,800 hotel rooms and branded residences, further strengthening the hospitality group’s footprint in Egypt.
Karim Khaled El Assal, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Misr Italia Properties and Co-founder of People & Places, said the partnership with Marriott enables the company to introduce globally recognised hospitality brands to high-potential destinations while accelerating its long-term expansion plans.
Key Developments Across Egypt
Among the flagship projects is The Ritz-Carlton at The Med Ras El Hekma, a beachfront development on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast.
The luxury resort is expected to feature 170 hotel rooms, complemented by 268 Ritz-Carlton Residences, creating a combined inventory of 438 accommodation and residential units.
Another major development at Solare Ras El Hekma will include a 180-room Autograph Collection hotel alongside 250 branded residences, further strengthening the North Coast’s luxury tourism offering.
In West Cairo, Marriott plans to introduce The Luxury Collection at The Hills of One in Sphinx City, featuring 180 hotel rooms and 180 branded residences.
On the Red Sea coast, the Kai Sokhna development in Ain Sokhna will include an 80-room Autograph Collection hotel together with 172 branded residences, catering to both leisure travellers and second-home buyers.
Meanwhile, Garden 8 in East Cairo will feature a 100-room Autograph Collection hotel, targeting the city’s growing lifestyle and business travel market.
Building on Existing Collaboration
The latest agreement builds upon Marriott’s existing partnership with the developers following the announcement in 2022 of Marriott Executive Apartments and Westin Hotels & Resorts Residences within the Il Bosco project in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital.
Together, the latest developments comprise five hotels and four branded residential projects, representing approximately 1,580 hotel rooms and residences across five strategic locations.
Supporting Egypt’s Tourism Growth
Misr Italia Properties and People & Places have outlined ambitious plans to develop a portfolio of around 50 hospitality assets by 2037, spanning integrated hospitality, residential and lifestyle destinations across the country.
The expanded partnership with Marriott is expected to strengthen Egypt’s appeal as both a leisure and investment destination, while supporting the country’s efforts to diversify its tourism offering through internationally branded hotels, luxury resorts and premium residential developments.
With global visitor demand for luxury and experiential travel continuing to grow, the latest agreement further positions Egypt as a key destination for high-end tourism and branded hospitality in the Middle East and North Africa.
