Indian actor Taapsee Pannu has been appointed as the new global tourism ambassador for Odense, Denmark’s third-largest city, as part of a campaign to boost its visibility among international travellers, particularly in Asia.

The initiative, led by Visit Odense, aims to strengthen the city’s presence in markets where interest in Scandinavian travel continues to grow.

Taapsee recently moved to Odense with her husband, former Danish badminton player Mathias Boe. Now, the actor is helping introduce her new home to audiences around the world through a collaboration focused on sharing the city’s culture, history and local experiences.

Unlike many tourism campaigns that rely on paid influencer partnerships, Visit Odense said this collaboration is based on a shared connection to the city rather than a commercial agreement. The goal is to promote Odense through authentic storytelling and personal experiences.

Speaking about her new role, Taapsee said it is a privilege to call Odense her second home.

She described the city as a place with a unique character, rich history and fairytale charm, adding that she has already created many special memories there with family and friends.

Taapsee said she hopes sharing her experiences will encourage more people to discover Odense and experience everything the city has to offer.

Known as the birthplace of renowned author Hans Christian Andersen, Odense combines historic attractions with modern culture, innovation and green spaces, making it one of Denmark’s emerging destinations for international visitors.

With Taapsee Pannu now representing the city, Visit Odense hopes to build stronger connections with travellers from India and other Asian markets while introducing a wider global audience to one of Denmark’s most distinctive destinations.
