Tourism Malaysia made its 21st appearance at South Asia’s leading travel and tourism event, SATTE 2025, held in New Delhi from 19th to 21st February. The participation is part of the organization’s ongoing effort to maintain Malaysia’s position as a preferred destination for Indian travelers.
At this year’s event, Tourism Malaysia spotlighted a range of niche tourism products such as shopping, golfing, luxury tourism, soft tourism, theme parks, and honeymoon packages. These offerings are central to the global campaign for Visit Malaysia 2026, which aims to attract more international visitors to the country. Additionally, the organization emphasized its Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) offerings, particularly appealing to the Indian corporate sector.
Recognized as the Best MICE Destination 2024 in the Indian market, Malaysia continues to reinforce its status as a top destination for business events and conferences. With over 40,000 trade visitors anticipated at SATTE 2025, the event is expected to drive a significant boost in Indian tourist arrivals through strengthened cooperation between tour operators and members of the tourism industry.
The Malaysian delegation was led by Mr. Ahmad Johanif Mohd Ali, Director of Tourism Malaysia’s New Delhi Office, alongside representatives from 58 organizations including tour agents, hotel operators, airline companies, and regional tourism boards such as Sabah Tourism Board and Tourism Melaka.
Commenting on the event, Mr. Ahmad Johanif Mohd Ali said, “Tourism Malaysia remains committed to attracting more Indian visitors by catering to their diverse preferences. The Indian market has been a vital source of visitors for over two decades. With the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VM2026) campaign on the horizon, we are focused on significantly increasing arrivals from India.”
India, with its strong economic and cultural ties to Malaysia, is Malaysia’s sixth-largest source of visitors. In 2024, Malaysia welcomed 38 million visitors, with 1.4 million arriving from India. To facilitate travel, Malaysia offers 240 weekly flights between India and Malaysia, providing over 45,000 seats through major airlines like Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, Batik Air, Air India, and IndiGo.
In addition, Tourism Malaysia is capitalizing on the recent announcement of a visa-free policy for Indian travelers until 31st December 2026—a move expected to drive even more tourism growth.
Tourism Malaysia’s engagement in India extends beyond SATTE 2025. The organization is hosting the Malaysia Food and Cultural Festival at the Pullman Hotel New Delhi Aerocity from 17th to 23rd February, as well as having recently participated in Outbound Travel Mart (OTM) 2025 in Mumbai. Additionally, the organization completed a successful roadshow campaign across Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Kochi in early February.
